Classical Pilates Matwork Teacher Training Program

The Pilates Standard Matwork Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive 100-hour education designed to build a strong foundation in the Classical Pilates Method.

Through four progressive modules, students develop the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence required to teach the complete Classical Pilates Matwork repertoire while gaining a deeper understanding of movement, anatomy, and teaching principles.

Program Modules

Intro Mat

The foundation of all TPS education programs. Students learn 21 introductory Mat exercises while becoming familiar with the TPS teaching philosophy, class structure, and instructional methods.

Ideal Mat

Build upon the Intro level by learning additional exercises and progressions. Students develop the ability to teach clients of different ages, abilities, and fitness levels while advancing the complete Mat sequence.

Anatomy & Orthopedic Fundamentals

Gain a practical understanding of anatomy, common orthopedic conditions, and safe exercise modifications. This module prepares teachers to work confidently with clients who have varying physical needs and limitations.

Challenge Mat

Master the advanced Classical Pilates Mat repertoire while deepening your understanding of biomechanics, cueing, flow, and the Five Powerhouse Actions. This module prepares students for further studies within Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, you will be able to:

• Apply the core principles of the Pilates Method
• Lead a structured 55-minute Matwork class
• Adapt exercises for clients with specific conditions and limitations
• Utilize TPS teaching tools and methodology
• Improve cueing, observation, and communication skills
• Qualify for entry into the international TPS apprenticeship directory
