The intensive Mat program is 2 modules and one exam.

  • Time: 9am until 5pm
  • Requirement: before start the program the student need a good fitness and 20 Hours Mat classes with a classical pilatesteacher

1. INTRO MAT 
Intro Mat is the basics for all of our Training programs. Each program is built on the content of this course. In this course/module you will learn 21 Mat exercises on INTRO Level and become familiar with THE PILATES STANDARD teaching components (philosophy, teaching method, class structure).

2. IDEAL MAT 
This course will improve your ability to teach people of any age or fitness level. You will learn another 8 exercises and how to add them into the INTRO mat (21 exercises) sequence as well as how to progress them to the IDEAL Level.

3. BASIC ANATOMY AND ORTHOPEDIC FUNDAMENTALS (14 hours)
Knowing how to teach clients with different needs, strengths and weaknesses as much as with chronic conditions, and/or illnesses is elementary for Pilates professionals. In this course some symptoms will be explained and the appropriate modification of the exercises will be practiced, for issues like: 
Common spinal issues like herniated disc, disc protrusion, Scolioses, elderly and youth population, pregnancy etc. Additionally, this course covers how to modify a Mat class for participants with health issues. 

4. CHALLENGE MAT 
The focus of this course is the basics of the bio-mechanical principles, the complex Powerhouse Actions 1-5, and the last 12 Mat exercises and how to incorporate them into the already learned Mat sequence and the progression into the CHALLENGE Level of the exercises. Additionally, you will learn sophisticated variations and explore exercises from different angles and perspectives. CHALLENGE Mat focuses on teaching components, especially in the areas of cueing and flow, essential for cultivating the teaching skills in apparatus education as well.

PREREQUISITES

  • PRIOR TO COURSE: 10 Pilates Matwork sessions
  • AFTER WEEKEND 1: 10 Pilates Matwork sessions
  • BETWEEN WEEKEND 2 AND 3: 10 Pilates Matwork sessions
  • BETWEEN WEEKEND 3 AND 4: 10 Pilates Matwork sessions

EXAM & CERTIFICATION
When completing the 4 Matwork weekends and passing the Matwork exam you will receive THE PILATES STANDARD Matwork Certification of completion

Should you fail on your first test, you can retest within a total of 3 months.

1st retest free within 1 month.
2nd retest fee= $100 within 2 months. 3rd retest fee= $100 within 3 months.
