Continuing Education & Professional Development
At The Pilates Standard, certification is not the end of the journey—it is the beginning.
The most accomplished Pilates teachers never stop learning. Continuing education is an essential part of preserving the depth, integrity, and effectiveness of the Classical Pilates Method. As teachers grow in knowledge, observation, and experience, they become better equipped to inspire and support their clients.
Our workshops and continuing education programs are rooted in the educational legacy of Bob Liekens—one of the most respected teachers and educators in the Pilates industry.
Bob was more than an exceptional teacher. He possessed a rare ability to understand movement, organize knowledge, communicate complexity with clarity, and guide teachers toward a deeper understanding of the method. His precision, intelligence, humor, and systematic approach to education continue to influence everything we do at TPS.
Our workshops are designed to carry that legacy forward. Rather than simply presenting information, they offer structured learning pathways that encourage critical thinking, practical application, and meaningful professional growth.
Through continuing education, teachers refine their skills, deepen their understanding of the Classical Pilates Method, and become part of a culture that values excellence, curiosity, and lifelong learning.
Because only when we continue to grow ourselves can we truly inspire growth in others.
Certification Renewal & CEC Requirements
To maintain an active certification with The Pilates Standard, continuing education credits (CECs) are required every two years.
CEC Requirements
Matwork Certification
- 8 CECs every 2 years
Comprehensive Certification
- 15 CECs every 2 years
If you have completed multiple TPS programs, the requirement for the most comprehensive certification applies.
Earning CEC Credits
- 1 CEC = 1 hour workshop taught by a TPS Teacher Trainer
- 0.5 CEC = 1 hour workshop taught by another approved organization
For non-TPS workshops, please submit the workshop topic, presenter, and duration for approval prior to renewal.

When it is time to renew your certification, email:

Please include:
- Your full name
- Type of certification (Matwork or Comprehensive)
TPS workshop credits are automatically recorded in our system. For workshops completed through other organizations, please attach a Certificate of Completion (PDF).
Once your renewal has been approved, you will receive confirmation by email and a renewed certificate.
